With limited time to display this amazing image, Canadians and International Travellers have until April 27, 2025 to see this Luke Jerram's adaptation of the planet Mars at the Muttart Conservatory in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Aptly called Mars, it is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. It is a unique blend of the image of Mars and surround sound composed by world famous musicians. The rotating artwork is 7 meters in diameter and is scaled into 1:1,000,000. It is captured into 120 dpi of its NASA imagery and each centimeter of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 10 kms. of the surface of planet Mars. The lifelike representation of the orange-red planet is shown in its rugged wasteland features including the valleys, rivers and even volcano. It has been presented in both indoor and outdoor settings. It served as the venue for scientific lectures, astro discussions with scientists while in others it served as the backdrop for music and orchestral performances. Since its creation, Mars has been previously shown in Amersfoort, The Netherlands in 2019, at the Houston Museum, USA in 2020. Over the years, it has been to many other countries such as in Australia, Belgium, Germany. Not to mention in several museums in the home country of the artist which is the UK and notably, the Royal Naval Academy also in UK.
And now Canada, but only until April 27.
For the moment, "Mars" home in Canada which is the Muttart Conservatory has many other features. Inside the 4 pyramid dubbed structures are 700 different kinds of plant species and botanical gardens surrounded by music, nature and beautiful works of art in a year-round controlled temperature
After the Canada exhibition at the Muttart Conservatory, Mars will be transferred to the Exploratium in San Francisco and at the Draper Museum, MA. Both in USA. Already, it has now several bookings in other countries in the months and years to come.
